saturday personal update: awesome mom and GTD edition
Today’s Saturday post was actually born on Sunday– but we’ll let it keep it’s “Saturday” moniker. I have a short personal update and an excellent resource to share with you so you’re getting a little bit of both world’s; lucky you.
On Saturday I ran the Volkslaufe 5K race with Heather and my mom. Completing a 5K race is not something particularly noteworthy for me, however, this one was special. This race marked the first one my mom has completed in 11 years. For the past four months she has been training hard to get ready for the event and she did an awesome job! She is at the older end of her age group and even managed to come in 21st among 40-49 year olds. I’m super stoked for her and very, very proud. I’ve extended the offer of a guest article or interview to her because I think she has insight that a lot of you will find very inspirational. I know I do at least.
Secondly, I have been thinking about re-reading David Allen’s Getting Things Done for about the fourth time. It’s such a great resource and one of the reasons I am the fairly productive person I am today. However, I’ve found something that I think might be better than re-reading the entire book. Trent Hamm of the excellent personal finance blog The Simple Dollar is doing an extremely in depth breakdown of the book. If you’ve read the book and need a refresher course or you are curious about what this whole “GTD” thing is all about, I highly recommend you check out his series of posts.
Until next time, stay sweet.
