simple saturday links 3/27/10
It’s been a weird week. I had big plans to do a lot of writing early in the week before my subbing responsibilities kicked in. Between a death in the family and a couple additional days of subbing added in, I can’t believe I wrote anything. I’ve actually made some decent progress on my ebook (which I haven’t announced, but will soon). Actually, almost all of my writing this week (approximately 3,500 words) happened over the course of a couple hours on one day. If I could somehow channel that productivity into everyday that I have time to write, I would be much more prolific. Oh well, one step at a time.
Here are three articles that caught my eye this week. Enjoy.
grocery: grok tool #6, mentors– Mentors can play a huge role in your personal and professional life. I’ve been looking for a hockey coaching mentor for awhile now with no luck. I might have to take some of the advice in this article.
the daily grid: filtering the tools you use– I’m a geek. I like tools. I also used to spend way too much time thinking about the tools I used instead of the work I did.
the simple dollar: balancing money and time– This article was posted literally minutes before I sat down to write this post. It talks about the balance Trent tries to keep between money (and the opportunities to make it) and the way he spends his time. He’s had to turn down some potentially lucrative creative projects to focus on his true priority, time with his family. Trent has his values in order. What do you value that you might have lost site of in favor of money?
As always, I’d love to get to know you via Twitter, Google Buzz, or even samspurlin AT gmail DOT com. Also, please consider getting automatic updates via RSS or email. Thanks!
